Description Royal Engineers Telegraph Department Egypt medal and Long Service and Good Conduct medal pair to Colin Newey, born 1860 in Wolverhampton. He appears in the 1881 Census at the School of Military Engineering, Gillingham, Kent. Medals – Egypt Medal 1882-89 (The Nile 1881-85 clasp) (16952 SAPR. C. NEWEY. 4/SEC. T. BN. R.E.) with Long Service and Good Conduct Medal (Condtr. Newey. Tel. Deptt.) in cursive script. Medal roll confirms the Egypt medal and clasp. He is also on the medal roll for the Khedive’s Star. Colin Newey married in Tehran (Persia), between 1896-1900 (Gro Consular Marriages (1849-1965)). He married Ada Dunkley. The 1911 Census sees him married to Ada living in Lime Avenue, Peterborough as an Army Pensioner and Tobacconist. 1939 Census confirms him at the same address as a retired Conductor (unnattached Indian Army). He died in 1949.
