Description Royal Engineers Foreman of Works Long Service Medal & Meritorious Medal pair. Long Service and Good Conduct Medal (10477 QR. MR. SGT. MIL. F. OF WKS. J. TEPPETT. R.E.) & Meritorious Service Medal (Q. M. S. J. TIPPETT. R.E.) Joseph Teppett attested 16th May 1870 at Devonport. Successive promotions saw him rise to Sergeant 3rd Class Military Foreman of Works December 1878 then Colour Sergeant Major, 1881 to Qr Mr. Sgt (M. F, of Works) 1886 He spent the majority of his career serving between Halifax Nova Scotia (5 periods) and Bermuda (4 periods) prior to in excess of 2 and a half years in Egypt between 10th October 1884 and 23rd June 1887 as well a home service giving a total 23 years and 94 days ending 17th August 1893.. He had attested 16th May 1870. Service papers confirm he was awarded the Long Service and Good Conduct Medal 1891. Born in Sutton on Plym, Devon, he was a 23 year old carpenter when he attested into the Royal Engineers. Joseph Teppett died in Felpham, Bognor Regis, aged 92 years, on the 19th January 1940.
