1888 Pattern Slade-Wallace leather bayonet frog produced as a reproduction example of the British Army issue pattern introduced in the late Victorian period. Made from brown buff leather, the frog follows the traditional Slade-Wallace web-and-leather equipment design, incorporating the integral belt loop for attachment to waist belts and equipment sets, with a belt and frog stud arrangement for holding the bayonet and scabbard securely in place. The pattern was originally intended for use with late 19th and early 20th century British service bayonets and formed part of the standard infantry soldier’s full dress equipment until 1914, remaining in use with the Guards division until the introduction of the SA80 bayonet. This reproduction example is suitable for uniform restoration, reenactment, display, or completion of reproduction British Army equipment sets. It represents a representative example of Victorian and Edwardian era British military field equipment and Commonwealth militaria.
