WALMSLEY. NO 3 B. 13TH BDE. R.ART. Obituary, death notice appeared in various newspapers stating, as in Leicester Chronicle – Saturday 08 March 1890. DEATH OF A CRIMEAN VETERAN. A Crimean veteran named Enoch Walmsley has died at Ardwick. He took part in the battles of Alma, Balaclava, and Inkermann, and was present during the whole of the siege of SebastopoL He had a horse shot under him at Balaclava. On the outbreak of the Indian Mutiny he volunteered for service, but was too late to be able to take part in the campaign. He afterwards volunteered for China, and was at the taking of the Taku Forts. For his war services he received three medals and five clasps. He leaves a widow aged sixty-four years.
